Rippling Review 2026: Pricing, Global Payroll, EOR and UK Payroll
Rippling puts payroll, HR, benefits, IT, expenses and global hiring on one employee record, so a new hire, pay rise or leaver is entered once and flows everywhere. It files US payroll taxes automatically, pays staff and contractors abroad through global payroll and employer of record hiring, and is on HMRC's list of recognised payroll software for UK staff. This guide shows why growing firms choose it, how its modular pricing works, three worked cost examples, and what US firms and UK practices with US or international staff should check. Prices were read on the Rippling pricing page on 3 November 2026.
TL;DR:
- One record, every module. HR changes flow straight into payroll, benefits and devices, which removes the rekeying where payroll errors start. Rippling says more than 25,000 businesses use it.
- US, UK and global payroll in one place. Automated US federal, state and local tax filing, HMRC-recognised UK payroll with RTI, plus global payroll, EOR and contractor payments.
- Pay run comparison and AI explanations show what changed between runs and answer staff pay questions, by Rippling's account.
- Enterprise-grade security: SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 are listed.
- Modular pricing from $8 per employee a month plus a base fee that is not published; payroll and EOR are quoted. Eligible US VC-backed startups get 6 months free.
- It scores 4.2 out of 5 in our directory. Best for growing clients who will use more than payroll, in the US or across several countries.

Why firms choose Rippling
Many small businesses run payroll, benefits, HR, laptops and expenses in separate tools, each with its own copy of the employee list. Every joiner, pay rise and leaver has to be entered several times, and that is where payroll mistakes begin.
Rippling fixes that with one employee record that everything else builds on. A new hire's details flow into payroll, benefits deductions and device setup from the same entry. Rippling describes this as a single source of truth for employee data and contrasts it with suites assembled from acquired products.
Payroll is one module among many, alongside benefits, time tracking, HR workflows, IT and devices, expenses, global payroll, employer of record (EOR) and contractor payments. Rippling says more than 25,000 businesses use it, from a handful of staff to more than 1,000.
For accountants, Rippling is the system a growing client runs, and the practice needs its payroll journals to land cleanly in QuickBooks or Xero.
How Rippling pricing works
Rippling is open about the model and quiet about the numbers. Its pricing page says most products are charged per employee per month, some add a monthly base fee, and plans start at $8 per employee a month plus that base fee. The base fee itself is not published. The UK pricing page gives no figures.
Everything beyond that starting point is quoted. You choose products, give a headcount, and receive one quote. The page's own example is payroll and benefits for 150 employees.
| What you buy | How it is priced | Published price |
|---|---|---|
| Entry platform plan | Per employee per month, plus a monthly base fee | From $8 per employee; base fee not stated |
| US payroll | Depends on headcount and products chosen | Not published |
| Global payroll | Per employee, by quote | From $8 per user on the global payroll page |
| Employer of record | Quote | Not published |
| Benefits, IT, expenses and other modules | Per employee per month, by quote | Not published |
| Partner pricing for accountants and brokers | Through a sales call | Not published |
| Startup programme | Free for 6 months for eligible US VC-backed startups | Free, subject to eligibility |
Rippling says you can switch at any time, even mid-year, with year-to-date payroll imported, and that extra payroll runs cost nothing. No setup fee is listed, but none is ruled out either, so ask in writing.
The practical point: the $8 figure is a floor for the cheapest product, not a payroll price. Treat it as the minimum per head and expect payroll, benefits and global modules to add to it.
Three worked examples
Because Rippling's payroll prices are quoted, these examples set out the published floor and the published prices of rivals, so you know what a Rippling quote has to beat.
1. A 20-person US business wanting payroll and HR
| Option | Sum | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rippling, published floor only | $8 x 20, plus base fee | $160 plus base fee | $1,920 plus base fee |
| Gusto Simple (one state) | $49 + $6 x 20 | $169 | $2,028 |
| Gusto Plus (multi-state, time tracking) | $80 + $12 x 20 | $320 | $3,840 |
Gusto ↗ Plus works out at $16 per employee a month. A Rippling quote below that wins on price as well as breadth; above it, the client is paying for the wider platform, which pays off when they use the IT, benefits or expenses modules. See our Gusto review for the full Gusto price list.
2. A UK group with 15 UK staff and 4 in the US
A UK client opens a US office. The question is whether one system for both countries beats two.
| Option | Sum | Monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Rippling for all 19, published floor only | $8 x 19, plus base fee | $152 plus base fee, before payroll modules |
| Gusto Simple for the 4 US staff | $49 + $6 x 4 | $73 |
| Plus a UK payroll tool for the 15 UK staff | Quote or calculator, for example PayFit or BrightPay | Varies |
Two systems will often be cheaper on paper. Rippling's case is one employee record and cost comparison across both entities. Ask for a quote that names the UK payroll module, and price the time spent reconciling two payrolls each month.
3. Hiring two people in Germany without a local entity
| Option | Sum | Monthly | Annual |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deel EOR | $599 x 2 | $1,198 | $14,376 |
| Remote EOR, annual contract | 599 x 2 | 1,198 | 14,376 |
| Rippling EOR | Quote | Not published | Not published |
Deel ↗ and Remote both publish EOR at 599 a month per employee. Use that as the benchmark for a Rippling EOR quote. Rippling's EOR page says EOR staff can later become direct hires without re-onboarding once the client sets up an entity. Our Deel vs Remote vs Oyster comparison covers EOR costs from a UK point of view.
US payroll and tax filing
Rippling says it calculates US payroll taxes and files them with federal, state and local agencies, keeps W-2s and 1099s on each employee's profile, and gives current and former staff self-service access to pay stubs and tax forms.
Two features stand out for anyone who reviews payroll. The first is pay run comparison: Rippling shows changes in gross pay, taxes and deductions against the previous run in one view. The second is that HR changes, such as new hires, salary changes and benefit deductions, flow into payroll without rekeying.
For US firms the value is mostly indirect: cleaner client payroll data and fewer manual journals. Partner pricing for accountants is only given on a sales call, so we cannot compare it with free firm dashboards such as Gusto Pro.
Global payroll, EOR and UK payroll
Rippling sells three ways to pay people outside the US:
- Global payroll for companies with their own entity in the country.
- Employer of record for hiring employees where the company has no entity. Rippling's EOR page says setting up an entity can take 6 to 12 months, and claims payroll can start 5 days before payday in popular markets and 12 days in less common ones.
- Contractor payments for paying contractors in their local currency without an entity.
The site has hiring guides for 13 countries, including the UK, Ireland, Canada and Germany, but gives no total country count. Ask which countries a client needs are covered before quoting.
What UK practices need to know. Our listing previously said UK payroll was not confirmed. That has changed. Rippling's UK payroll page says it calculates PAYE, National Insurance and student loan deductions, applies tax codes and makes RTI submissions to HMRC. Rippling also appears on HMRC's published list of paid-for recognised payroll software, under the supplier name People Center, Inc.
The UK page does not mention auto-enrolment pensions, P45s or P60s, so confirm pension handling in a demo. For a UK-only client, specialist UK tools such as PayFit or Employment Hero are built around those duties from the start. Rippling makes more sense where the UK team is one part of a US-led or multi-country business.
If a client is mainly paying overseas contractors from the UK, read our guide to paying overseas contractors from the UK before choosing a platform.
What the AI actually does
Rippling's payroll page leads with AI. In Rippling's own words, it can "cut hours of manual payroll work with AI". The specific claims are that its AI can:
- add one-off bonuses to a payroll in seconds
- compare payroll costs across entities
- explain to employees why their pay changed
- take delegated tasks across HR, payroll, IT and finance, with a library of example prompts
These are the vendor's claims. The pay change explanations are the most useful, because pay queries take up much of a payroll manager's month. The global payroll page does not mention AI, so do not assume the AI features apply equally outside the US. Ask which plans include them and test them on a real month of data.
Rippling also cites a commissioned Forrester study claiming a 42% efficiency gain. Treat it as Rippling's figure, not independent evidence.
Security, data and integrations
Rippling's security page lists SOC 1 Type II, SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 reports, ISO 27001, ISO 27018 and ISO 42001 certifications, and CSA STAR Level 2. SOC reports are audited yearly, and it runs regular penetration tests and a bug bounty. It says it complies with GDPR and CCPA.
All data is stored in AWS data centres in the US. For UK and EU clients, that means employee data is transferred outside the UK, so ask for the data processing agreement and the transfer safeguards before signing.
On integrations, Rippling names Xero, QuickBooks ↗ and NetSuite as its accounting connections and claims more than 650 integrations in total. Its Xero app store listing says it syncs payroll to the Xero general ledger, including tracking categories, and has been listed since February 2019. When we checked, that listing had a 4.0 rating from a single review, so there is little independent feedback from Xero users yet.
Where Rippling falls short
- Most pricing is not published. The only figure is a starting price of $8 per employee a month, plus an unstated base fee. You cannot compare payroll costs with Gusto or Paychex WISE without a quote.
- Lock-in. Rippling's value comes from adopting several modules on one employee record. Moving payroll out later means moving that record and everything built on it.
- Heavier implementation. Expect onboarding calls and data migration rather than a same-day setup. Ask what is included and whether any setup fee applies.
- AI claims are the vendor's own. Check which plans include the AI features and test them before relying on them.
- UK detail is thin. RTI and PAYE are claimed, but pensions, P45s and P60s are not described on the UK page.
- US data storage. Data sits in US data centres, which UK and EU clients need to cover in their data protection paperwork.
- Little independent feedback from accountants. The Xero listing has one review.
Where Rippling wins against rivals
| Tool | AI Ledger score | Best for | Pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gusto | 4.6 | US small business payroll, free dashboard for firms | Simple $49 a month plus $6 per person; Plus $80 plus $12; Premium $180 plus $22 |
| Paylocity | 4.5 | US mid-sized companies wanting a full HR suite | Quote only |
| Deel | 4.4 | Hiring and paying people in many countries | From $49 per contractor a month; EOR $599 per employee a month |
| Warp | 4.3 | US startups with staff in many states | From $35 per person a month plus $89 platform fee |
| Rippling | 4.2 | Growing companies wanting payroll, HR and IT on one record | From $8 per employee a month plus base fee; payroll by quote |
| Remote | 4.1 | Global payroll and EOR with published prices | Global payroll from 29 per person a month; EOR from 599 |
| HiBob | 4.1 | Mid-sized HR teams wanting a people platform | Quote only |
| Employment Hero | 4.1 | UK payroll and HR for SMEs | Free payroll plan; paid plans tailored, 10 user minimum |
| Every | 4.0 | US startups wanting payroll, banking, books and tax together | Payroll from $25 per employee a month plus $50 |
Rippling wins when a growing client will use payroll plus benefits, devices or global hiring. None of the rivals here covers US payroll, UK payroll, EOR and IT on one employee record, and that breadth is what a group with staff in several countries pays for.
Gusto is cheaper for small US teams that only need payroll.
Deel or Remote suit firms that mainly hire abroad and want published EOR prices.
Employment Hero suits UK-only clients.
All sit in our Payroll and HR category.

Our verdict
Rippling is a strong platform for clients who will use more than payroll. One employee record feeding payroll, benefits, devices and global hiring removes duplicate data entry, the pay run comparison and pay change explanations are genuinely useful, and the security page now lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001. UK payroll with RTI is claimed and Rippling appears on HMRC's recognised software list, which makes it a real option for UK practices whose clients have US or international staff.
The costs to weigh are the lack of published payroll prices, the lock-in that comes with a platform, and an implementation heavier than a pure payroll tool. Get a written quote that names every module, compare it with Gusto's published prices for US staff and Deel's or Remote's for EOR, and confirm pensions handling for UK staff.
We score Rippling 4.2 out of 5. Our full listing is on the Rippling tool page.
