About Pilot Meridian

Launched 16 June 2026, Pilot Meridian is the AI accounting platform that completes the month-end close from start to finish. Built inside Pilot, one of the largest US accounting firms for startups, and refined in production since 2017, Meridian onboards clients, closes historical books, handles edge cases, and returns a complete set of review-ready financial statements directly into the general ledger.

Accountants receive finished work to review rather than supervising task-by-task agent output. Meridian executes according to each firm's own accounting policies and each client's specific processes, and logs every decision for auditability.

According to Pilot CEO Jessica McKellar, three out of four accounting firms are currently turning away clients due to capacity constraints; Meridian is designed to change the unit economics of close work so firms can scale without scaling headcount.

Our in-depth review

Pilot Meridian is a production-proven AI platform that fully closes the books end to end and returns review-ready financials to accounting firms, working with QuickBooks Online, Xero and NetSuite. It comes from Pilot, the established bookkeeping company, and cites a large track record, 8,000-plus businesses and 187,000-plus months of closed books.

What it does well, on the evidence so far: unlike many AI-native newcomers, it leans on Pilot's real operating history, so the close engine is battle-tested rather than brand new. It targets firms wanting review-ready output rather than raw automation, which fits how practices actually work, and supports the three main ledgers.

Where to be cautious: Meridian as a firm-facing product is newer than Pilot the service, so independent reviews specifically of the platform are still limited, and the scale figures are vendor sourced. Firms will want to confirm how it fits their review and sign-off process.

Best for: accounting firms that want an AI close engine with a proven operational pedigree behind it, returning review-ready financials.

Verdict: one of the more credible AI close platforms precisely because of the volume behind it. Pilot it on a slice of clients, check the review-ready output against your standards, and it could take real weight off month end.
