About Inkle

Inkle is a US accounting, tax and compliance platform for startups that combines software with licensed CPAs. Inkle Books provides AI-suggested transaction categorisation, receipt matching, bank reconciliation and invoicing, while Inkle Tax tracks deadlines and files federal and state returns including Form 1120, 1099s, Delaware Franchise Tax, FBAR and beneficial ownership reports.

The company says more than 500 US startups use it to stay compliant, including over 5 percent of Y Combinator companies. Pricing is published in full: the Books software has a free plan and a 30 dollar per month Standard plan, monthly bookkeeping service starts at 99 dollars, and the core US Tax Package is 850 dollars per year with per-form add-ons. It also offers a registered agent and virtual mailroom, an API, and an Inkle Practice product through which accounting firms file US startup taxes using its software.

It is positioned for Delaware C-Corp founders, including international founders with US entities, and for accountants who serve them.

Our in-depth review

Inkle bundles the unglamorous plumbing of running a US startup entity, which is bookkeeping, federal and state filings, registered agent and mail, into one platform with AI assistance and licensed CPAs doing the filings.

What it does well. Pricing transparency is unusually good for this market: every filing has a published price, from a 650 dollar Form 1120 to 100 dollar Delaware Franchise Tax, so founders can budget without a sales call. The AI does useful but bounded work, suggested categorisation and receipt matching, while humans file. The claim that 500+ startups including over 5 percent of YC companies use it is the vendor's own, but named customers and Trustpilot reviews support real usage, and Inkle Practice gives accountants a route to serve US startup clients on the same rails.

Where it falls short. It is US-only in scope, so UK practices will only care where clients hold Delaware entities. The free and 30 dollar software tiers are thin on their own, with the value concentrated in paid services, and complex multi-state or high-transaction businesses will outgrow the starter bookkeeping tier quickly.

Best for. Startup founders with US C-Corps, especially international founders, and accountants who want a packaged way to handle US startup filings.

Verdict. A transparent, sensibly priced compliance bundle for US startup entities rather than a full accounting suite.
