About Bitwave

Bitwave is a digital asset finance platform that unifies accounting, payments, reporting and compliance for enterprises holding or transacting in crypto. It pulls on-chain data from more than 50 blockchains into ERPs such as QuickBooks, Xero and NetSuite, tracks fair market value, gains, losses and impairment, and supports inventory methods from FIFO and LIFO to specific identification and average cost, alongside DeFi reward accrual and NFT lifecycle accounting.

In July 2026 the company announced Bitwave Agentic, its plan for the AI-native finance organisation. This includes KubeClaw, an open-source platform for operating autonomous AI agents securely inside regulated financial environments, and Bitwave CLI, an open-source agent-native accounting system that works across traditional and digital assets and can sync with Bitwave's hosted platform.

It is positioned for enterprises and regulated institutions with material digital asset activity, and for the accounting teams and auditors who serve them, with custom quoted pricing and a formal onboarding process rather than self-serve sign-up.

Our in-depth review

Bitwave is one of the most established names in digital asset accounting, and its new agentic push is a bet that crypto back offices will be run partly by AI agents.

What it does well. The core sub-ledger is genuinely deep: 50+ blockchain integrations, ERP sync, impairment, multiple inventory methods and DeFi and NFT support, which is far beyond what general ledgers offer natively. Making KubeClaw and Bitwave CLI open source is a confident move that lets sceptical teams inspect how agents behave before trusting them, and the audit module and data warehouse access suit firms with real scrutiny to face.

Where it falls short. Pricing is opaque and enterprise-only, with formal onboarding rather than a trial, so smaller practices and individual CPAs are effectively excluded. The agentic tooling announced in July 2026 is brand new and unproven in production, and vendor descriptions of it remain more vision than shipped workflow. If your clients hold no digital assets, none of this matters.

Best for. Enterprises, funds and regulated institutions with material crypto activity, and the controllers and audit teams responsible for getting it into the ledger correctly.

Verdict. The safe default for serious crypto accounting, with an intriguing but early open-source agent layer that warrants watching rather than betting on yet.
