About Mesh

Mesh (usemesh.com) is a Y Combinator W25 startup building an AI bookkeeper aimed at startups and mid-market finance teams. It ingests data across banking, invoicing, point-of-sale, billing, expense management and payroll systems, then performs daily automated reconciliation, completing what is usually a slow manual job in minutes. Users can then export, edit and upload the results into their general ledger.

A core focus is eliminating manual accrual spreadsheets by encoding the logic teams normally handle by hand, using real-time usage and service signals across connected platforms. Mesh also offers an AI-native chat interface that lets founders and finance staff ask plain-language questions about their numbers.

It was founded by Nandini Ramakrishnan and Erin Kim, whose backgrounds include Carta, eBay and Barclays.

Our in-depth review

Mesh goes after a specific, genuinely tedious slice of the close: reconciliation and accruals.

What it does well. Its clearest strength is breadth of connectivity, pulling from banking, billing, POS, expenses and payroll and then reconciling daily rather than in a monthly marathon, which is exactly what fast-moving startups struggle to keep up with. The promise of replacing manual accrual spreadsheets is appealing because that work is error-prone and hated, and the chat interface lowers the barrier for non-accountant founders to interrogate their own books.

Where it falls short. The reservations are the usual ones for a young, narrowly scoped tool. Mesh does one part of the workflow well but is not a full general ledger, so it lives alongside your existing stack rather than replacing it, and the value depends heavily on how cleanly it maps to your chart of accounts. Automation claims like completing reconciliation in minutes are the company's own and will vary with data quality and how unusual your transactions are. As a W25 company it is still early, so expect edges around support and less common integrations.

Best for. Startups and small finance teams that want faster reconciliation and accruals without hiring.

Verdict. A useful, focused add-on worth trialling, provided you keep a human reviewing the output while it earns trust.
