About isolved
isolved is a human capital management platform that brings payroll, HR, benefits, workforce management and talent management into a single modular system called isolved People Cloud. The company states it has been building the platform for more than 40 years and that more than 200,000 employers use it.
Its AI features are aimed at payroll accuracy rather than conversation. An AI-powered payroll preview flags missing punches, unusual variances and tax anomalies before a run is approved. On 4 August 2026 the company launched The Guardian, described as its first AI agent designed to own payroll outcomes: it analyses every run, flags potential errors before close and takes corrective action with human permission. An integration marketplace connects People Cloud to third-party apps, and an API integration pushes payroll into the QuickBooks Online general ledger.
isolved runs a partner programme for accountants, brokers and advisers who want to offer payroll, HR and tax support to their own clients, which is the main route in for practices rather than direct sale.

Our in-depth review
isolved is a long-established HCM vendor rather than an AI-native startup, and its AI story reflects that: narrow, accuracy-focused features inside an existing payroll engine rather than a reinvention of the category.
What it does well. The AI is pointed at the part of payroll that actually costs firms money, namely errors caught after close. The payroll preview flags missing punches, variances and tax anomalies before approval, and The Guardian, launched on 4 August 2026, extends that to taking corrective action under human permission. For practices, the accountant partner programme and the QuickBooks Online general ledger integration matter more than any single feature, because they make payroll a service a firm can resell rather than a system it has to learn. Scale is a genuine advantage here; a payroll engine with four decades of tax table maintenance behind it is not trivially replicated.
Where it falls short. The Guardian is days old at the time of writing, with no independent evidence of accuracy, and isolved's claim that it owns outcomes rather than assisting deserves scrutiny in a live payroll. Pricing is quote-only and typically routed through a partner, so comparison shopping is awkward. The platform is broad, which also means implementation is a project, not a signup. Firms wanting a lightweight payroll bolt-on will find it heavy.
Best for. Practices that want to resell payroll and HR at scale, and mid-market employers who need one system across payroll, benefits and workforce management.
Verdict. A solid, unglamorous payroll platform whose new AI agent is promising but unproven, best evaluated through its partner programme.
