About Inscope

Inscope is an AI-powered financial reporting platform that helps accounting firms and in-house finance teams prepare, review and deliver GAAP financial statements. Its Disclosure Assistant suggests required disclosures based on the entity and peer benchmarks, while a Review Assistant scans for footing, cross-footing and internal consistency exceptions before statements go out.

The company was founded in 2023 by Mary Antony and Kelsey Gootnick and raised a 14.5 million dollar Series A in February 2026 from Norwest Venture Partners, Storm Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and BTV. In July 2026 it launched an Agentic Disclosure Checklist, in which its AI agent Penny analyses completed financial statements against applicable US GAAP disclosure requirements with each response linked to the supporting section. Customers named on its site include Copado, Miro, Stord and Vouch.

It is positioned for accounting and audit firms that prepare financial statements for clients, and for midmarket and enterprise controllers who want roll-forwards, version control and review checks handled in one system rather than in Word and Excel.

Our in-depth review

Financial statement preparation is one of the last stubbornly manual corners of accounting, and Inscope goes after it directly with AI drafting, disclosure suggestion and automated review checks.

What it does well. The product is focused on a real bottleneck: roll-forwards, footing checks, disclosure completeness and version control across drafts. The Review Assistant's consistency and cross-footing checks are the sort of mechanical work that machines should do, and customer quotes cite auditors responding well to statements prepared in the system. A 14.5 million dollar Series A in February 2026 from Norwest, Storm, Lightspeed and BTV gives it credible backing, and the July 2026 Agentic Disclosure Checklist, which links every determination to the supporting statement section, shows sensible respect for traceability.

Where it falls short. Pricing is not published, so smaller firms cannot judge value without a sales call. The platform is US GAAP centred, which limits its use for UK FRS 102 work. Time-saved claims come from the vendor and its customers rather than independent testing, and lower-confidence AI determinations still need a competent reviewer.

Best for. US-focused accounting firms with a financial statement preparation practice, and controllers at midmarket companies producing audited GAAP statements each year.

Verdict. A credible, well-funded specialist for statement preparation, worth a demo if disclosure drafting eats your review time.
