About Aleph

Aleph is an AI-native financial planning and analysis platform, founded in 2020 and based in Tel Aviv. It consolidates data from a company's source systems and feeds it live into Excel and Google Sheets through add-ins, as well as its own dashboards, pivot tables and SQL editor. It covers financial reporting and close, budgeting, modelling and forecasting, headcount planning, and investor and board reporting.

Aleph cites more than 150 no-code connectors. Named accounting and ERP connections include NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks and Xero, alongside Stripe and Shopify, warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks, HR systems including Rippling and BambooHR, and Salesforce and HubSpot. The AI layer includes the Aleph Agent for routine analysis, AI Scan, which spots and explains variances in spreadsheets and reports, AI-assisted data cleaning and an AI SQL editor, and an Aleph MCP connection for agent workflows. Named customers include Zapier, Notion, Y Combinator, Turo, Chess.com and Synthesia.

It is aimed at finance teams at venture and private equity-backed companies and at fractional CFO firms that want automated consolidation without giving up the spreadsheets their models already live in.

The AI Ledger

Our in-depth review

The job Aleph does is the one that eats a fractional CFO's week: pulling actuals from the ledger, billing, payroll and CRM into the spreadsheet model, mapping them, and then explaining what moved. Aleph's bet is that finance people will keep their spreadsheets, so it pipes clean, live data into them rather than replacing them with a new planning tool.

What it does well. The spreadsheet-first design lowers the adoption barrier. Analysts keep their Excel or Google Sheets models and gain live, mapped data with drill-down, instead of rebuilding everything in a proprietary planning grid. The connector list is broad and covers the ledgers practices meet most often, including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct and NetSuite, plus the billing, payroll and CRM systems that drive a SaaS model. AI Scan for variance explanations and AI-assisted mappings target the slowest parts of a monthly pack, and an MCP connection lets assistants work with governed data.

Where it falls short. There is no public pricing, only a demo and a trial, so budget conversations start blind and smaller clients may find it priced for funded companies. The spreadsheet-first approach is also a limit: governance still depends on how disciplined the underlying models are. There is no Sage 50, FreeAgent or IRIS connector, and nothing UK-specific, so it suits international or US-style tech clients more than typical UK owner-managed businesses. Firms that mainly need polished management reports on Xero will get there faster and cheaper with Fathom or Syft.

Best for. Fractional CFO firms and in-house finance teams at venture or private equity-backed companies with several data sources and an existing spreadsheet model. In a trial, connect your messiest client, test how mappings hold up when the chart of accounts changes, and check whether AI Scan's variance explanations match what you would write yourself. Ask for a written quote early.

Verdict. A strong FP&A layer for spreadsheet-loving finance teams with many systems, but opaque pricing and a tech-company focus make it a poor fit for typical UK small-business practices.
