About cfo.ai
cfo.ai sells Ari, an AI agent positioned as a chief financial officer for founders and independent business owners. Ari connects to a company's financial systems, builds and maintains a live model of the business, and is designed to raise meaningful changes on its own rather than wait for a question.
The company was founded in 2020 as Runway Financial, an AI-native platform focused on financial planning and modelling, and rebranded as cfo.ai on 10 September 2026 alongside the launch of Ari. It connects to NetSuite, QuickBooks, Stripe, Salesforce and Snowflake, and answers forecasting questions from Slack. Published pricing is 500 US dollars a month for the Startup plan and 1,500 US dollars a month for Growth.
The rebrand involved a deliberate pivot away from accounting software, so this is aimed at founders running their own finances rather than at accountants running a client book.
Key Features
- Ari connects to finance systems and keeps a live model of the business
- Continuous monitoring that surfaces meaningful changes rather than waiting to be asked
- Hiring plans, results review and pricing scenarios tested against the company's own numbers
- Slack access for forecasting questions
Our in-depth review
cfo.ai is what happens when a financial planning vendor decides its buyer is the founder rather than the finance team, and renames itself accordingly.
What it does well. The connector list is the real one, covering NetSuite, QuickBooks, Stripe, Salesforce and Snowflake, which is where a startup's numbers actually live. Keeping a live model rather than regenerating a static forecast is the right architecture for scenario work, and pricing is published rather than hidden behind a call, which is rarer than it should be in this category. The Slack surface fits how founders already ask financial questions.
Where it falls short. The company's claim that Ari continuously monitors the business and brings meaningful changes forward is its own, and there is no published evidence on how well it distinguishes a signal from noise. The product launched in September 2026 under a new name, so there is no track record at this identity and no independent reviews. The pivot away from accounting software is the bigger caveat for this directory: Ari is built to let a founder act without an accountant, not to help an accountant serve a client, and a bookkeeper will find no client management layer here. At 500 US dollars a month the entry price is steep for a business small enough to need it.
Best for. Venture-backed founders and owner-operators who want forecasting and scenario planning without hiring a fractional CFO.
Verdict. A credible founder-facing planning agent, but the wrong tool for anyone building a practice rather than running a company.
