About TaxPlanIQ

TaxPlanIQ is a tax planning platform for accountants and tax professionals that turns a client's prior return into a set of recommended planning strategies. Its AI assistant, jAIne, scans a library of more than 130 documented strategies and surfaces the ones that fit a given client, then generates a white-labelled ROI summary, slide deck and planning report automatically.

The platform also includes a Multi-1040 Uploader and Opportunity Analyser for reviewing up to 100 client returns in bulk, quarterly estimated projections, scenario modelling and entity comparison. A built-in value-based pricing tool calculates a suggested fee from the strategies selected, which is central to how the company positions the product. TaxPlanIQ ranked No. 644 on the 2026 Inc. 5000 list and No. 50 in Financial Services on 562% three-year revenue growth.

It is aimed squarely at small tax practices and solo CPAs and EAs who want to move from compliance filing towards paid advisory work.

Our in-depth review

TaxPlanIQ is less an AI tool than a productised sales motion for tax advisory, with AI bolted on to speed up the strategy matching.

What it does well. The core loop is genuinely useful: upload a return, get a shortlist of applicable strategies with a quantified saving, and produce a branded report you can put in front of a client the same day. The bulk uploader turns an existing client base into a prospecting list for advisory work, which is the real commercial argument. Flat per-user pricing rather than per-household is unusual in this category and rewards firms with a lot of clients. The Inc. 5000 placement is an independently verifiable signal of growth, though growth is not the same as quality.

Where it falls short. The strategy library is the product, and its quality and currency are the vendor's own claim; you remain professionally responsible for whether a surfaced strategy is defensible for that client. The AI element is essentially matching and drafting rather than reasoning, so treat jAIne's output as a first pass, not advice. At $299 per user per month the tool needs to convert several advisory engagements a year to pay for itself, which will not suit a practice that mostly files returns. Integration is thin compared with the big tax suites.

Best for. Solo and small US tax practices trying to build a repeatable, priced tax planning service.

Verdict. Worth trialling if you actually intend to sell planning work, and a waste of money if you do not.
