About Juno

Juno (juno.tax) is a CPA-founded tax-prep automation platform built for small and mid-sized accounting firms rather than the self-prep market. Its AI reads more than 90 document types, including W-2s, 1099s, K-1s and balance sheets, extracts the relevant figures and pushes them into mainstream professional tax software such as Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect and CCH Axcess.

The company says it automates around 90% of the data-entry busywork while flagging prior-year changes and inconsistencies for a preparer to validate, leaving the professional with final authority.

Founded by CPA Dave Haase, who started building the tool on the side in 2023, Juno raised a $12 million seed round led by Bonfire Ventures with Impression Ventures and Xfund in April 2026.

Our in-depth review

Juno targets a real and unglamorous pain point: the hours preparers lose keying numbers off source documents into tax software every busy season.

What it does well. Focus and integration. It reads a wide range of document types, claims to automate about 90% of data entry, and crucially pushes the results into the tools firms already use like Drake, Lacerte, ProConnect and CCH Axcess rather than asking them to switch platforms. The prior-year-comparison and inconsistency flags are the kind of small touches that suggest it was built by someone who has actually prepared returns, which tracks given the CPA founder.

Where it falls short. The honest caveats are familiar for an early-stage product. The 90% automation figure is the company's own marketing, real-world results will vary with document quality and return complexity, and messy or scanned paperwork remains the hard case for any extraction tool. At $12 million in seed funding and only recently scaling, its support and reliability under full busy-season load are not yet proven at large volumes.

Best for. Small and mid-sized firms drowning in data entry who want a preparer to stay in the loop.

Verdict. A focused, sensibly designed tool that is worth piloting on a subset of returns before trusting it with the whole book of business.
