About Accordance

Accordance is an AI research and advisory platform built for tax, audit and CPA teams. Its multi-agent system is trained on authoritative federal, state, local and international tax codices, accounting standards, court precedents and tax treaties, and acts as an intelligent copilot for complex research and compliance questions.

The company launched publicly in September 2025 with $13 million in funding: a $10 million seed round led by Khosla Ventures and $3 million of pre-seed backing led by General Catalyst, with Anthropic, NEA, Bain Capital Ventures and Sequoia Capital also investing. It maintains research partnerships with OpenAI, Anthropic and Stanford, has published case studies with firms including Wright Ford Young & Co and Barnes Wendling, and has been recognised as an innovation leader by the BDO Alliance.

Accordance is positioned for boutique practices through to nationwide firms and in-house tax teams that want expert-level research capacity without adding headcount.

Our in-depth review

Accordance pitches itself as an AI brain for tax and accounting, a research copilot trained specifically on primary tax law rather than a general model with a legal veneer. It launched publicly in September 2025 with backing from Khosla Ventures, General Catalyst and, notably, Anthropic.

What it does well. The specialisation is the point. The multi-agent system is trained on federal, state, local and international codices, court precedents and treaties, which is the right substrate for grey-area research. The vendor says the system outperforms major foundation models on tax reasoning tasks and that usage grew tenfold in six months; both are the vendor's own figures. Published firm case studies and BDO Alliance recognition are more useful independent signals.

Where it falls short. Pricing is not published, so budgeting requires a sales conversation. Authority coverage is US-centric, and non-US practitioners should probe how deep the international material really goes. As with every research AI, outputs still need professional review, and a 2024 founding means a limited track record through a full filing cycle.

Best for. US CPA firms and in-house tax teams that regularly hit complex research questions and want junior staff producing partner-grade first drafts.

Verdict. A credible, well-backed specialist that belongs on the AI tax research shortlist, provided you verify coverage for your jurisdictions first.
