About Financial Cents
Financial Cents is cloud-based practice management software built for accounting, bookkeeping and tax firms. It brings client work, workflow templates, time tracking, billing and a client portal together in one platform, and in September 2026 it added three AI file agents that automatically rename, validate and route documents uploaded by clients.
The platform is SOC 2 Type 1 certified and offers a Canadian data residency option. It syncs natively with QuickBooks Online, connects to Google Drive and tax packages including Drake Tax, UltraTax, Lacerte and ProSeries, and lists more than 10,000 accountants, bookkeepers and CPAs among its users.
Financial Cents is positioned for small and growing firms, from solo practitioners up to around 30-person practices, that want to standardise workflows without adopting a large enterprise system.
Key Features

Our in-depth review
Financial Cents is a workflow and client management platform for small accounting and bookkeeping firms, and its September 2026 update adds three narrow AI agents that tidy up the unglamorous job of handling client file uploads.
What it does well. The core workflow engine is mature, with templates for bookkeeping, tax and CAS work, a native QuickBooks Online sync and a branded client portal that keeps document requests and e-signatures in one place. The new AI file renaming, validation and routing agents slot into existing workflows rather than forcing a new process on staff, and firms can choose automatic processing or keep a human check on every suggestion. The vendor's claim of over 10,000 firm users suggests a reasonably established customer base for a tool at this end of the market.
Where it falls short. The AI additions are modest, essentially document housekeeping rather than anything that touches reconciliation, categorisation or tax judgement, so they will not move the needle on billable hours the way a bookkeeping AI might. Pricing tiers are not published on the main site, and the company's own research found that most firms using AI anywhere still cannot point to a measurable return, a caution worth applying to its own claims too.
Best for. Solo practitioners and small to mid-sized firms, roughly up to 30 people, that already run their practice management loosely and want tidier document handling without switching their core accounting software.
Verdict. A sensible, low-risk addition to an already solid practice management tool rather than a reason to switch on its own.
