About Wesley

Wesley is AI-native accounting software for accounting firms: a ledger the firm uses to keep its clients' books. It turns bank and card feeds and uploaded files such as PDF statements, CSV and Excel into categorised transactions, suggesting payees and accounts, and supports bulk posting, bulk actions and firm-wide rules across many clients. It also covers reconciliation, journal entries, fixed assets, budgeting, cash flow, invoicing, bill payments and tax hand-off reports, with a client portal where clients see statements and answer automated questionnaires.

Integrations listed include QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop and QuickBooks Payroll, Xero, Plaid bank feeds, Stripe, BILL, Shopify, Square, Karbon and ShareFile, plus Zapier, a public API and MCP access for Claude and ChatGPT. The team describes itself as having built QuickBooks Online, and the company is in the NVIDIA Inception and Google for Startups programmes. CPA Practice Advisor reported the US launch for CPA firms on 2 July 2026, with the company saying pilot firms automated more than 80% of categorisation and reconciliation tasks.

It is positioned at US bookkeeping and CPA firms that want to move client books off QuickBooks onto a platform priced per staff member rather than per client.

The AI Ledger

Our in-depth review

Wesley is not a bolt-on for QuickBooks or Xero; it wants to replace them as the ledger a bookkeeping firm works in. That is a bigger ask than most AI tools make, and it changes what a practice should test.

What it does well. The multi-client design is the point. Firm-wide rules, bulk posting across clients and one dashboard for exceptions address the way bookkeeping firms actually work, rather than one company at a time. Statement and document parsing is unlimited on Pro, so catch-up work does not run into per-page charges. Pricing is per staff member with unlimited clients, which favours firms with a large book of small clients. The client portal with automated questionnaires covers the uncategorised-transaction chase that eats bookkeepers' time. Karbon, ShareFile and MCP access show it has thought about the practice stack around the ledger.

Where it falls short. Moving a client's books to a new ledger is a serious decision. Clients and their other advisers may expect QuickBooks or Xero, and the exit route if Wesley does not work out needs checking before migration. It is a US product built around US workflows: there is no MTD, HMRC or UK VAT functionality, and no Sage, FreeAgent or IRIS support, so it is not a fit for UK practices. The company is young and has not published funding, and the 80% automation figure comes from its own pilots. At $96 per member per month billed annually, a ten-person firm is looking at over $11,000 a year, and there is no free trial, only a demo.

Best for. US bookkeeping and CPA firms with many small business clients, willing to run client books on a new ledger in exchange for automation and per-seat pricing. Pilot it on a few messy clients, and test the export back to QuickBooks or Xero before committing a whole client base. UK firms should look at Tofu or ApprovalMax alongside Xero instead.

Verdict. A credible, multi-client AI ledger worth piloting for US firms, but switching ledgers is a big bet on a young vendor and it does not serve UK practices.
