About Stampli

Stampli is a procure-to-pay platform covering procurement, accounts payable, vendor management, payments and expenses, with the customer's ERP kept as the system of record. Its AI, called Billy, codes invoices, matches them to purchase orders and routes them for approval, learning from how a business has handled bills before across what the company says are more than 2,700 ERP-aligned fields. Questions and decisions stay attached to each invoice, so the audit trail sits with the document.

Around the AP core it offers procurement controls before spend is committed, a vendor portal where suppliers maintain their own details with finance verifying sensitive changes, Direct Pay for payments, reimbursements and Stampli Cards with pre-set spend controls, and Deep Finance, an analysis product. Listed ERP integrations include NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Sage 100, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Finance and GP, Acumatica, Oracle Fusion and SAP ECC and S/4HANA. The company cites more than 2,000 customers, 400,000 invoices a week and over $400 billion of spend processed, and shows an AICPA SOC badge.

It is positioned at mid-market and larger finance teams with real invoice volume, mostly in the US.

Our in-depth review

Stampli is one of the more mature AI accounts payable platforms, and its pitch is pragmatic: leave the ERP alone, put the invoice conversation and the AI coding on top, and let finance approve rather than key.

What it does well. Billy learns from a business's own history of coding, matching and approvals, which is a more grounded approach than generic extraction, and the company says it now handles 89% of the work on average. Keeping comments and decisions on the invoice itself solves the email chasing that slows most approval chains. ERP depth is the real strength: a long list of named connectors including NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics, Acumatica, Oracle and SAP means it fits environments that lighter tools cannot. Scale figures of more than 2,000 customers and 400,000 invoices a week suggest a product that has been tested at volume, and the SOC badge covers the basic security question.

Where it falls short. Pricing is not published; every route leads to a demo, so a practice cannot model cost per client. Xero is not among the listed ERP integrations, and there is no sign of FreeAgent, IRIS or Sage 50 support, which rules it out for most UK small business clients. The company is based in California and the site says nothing about UK availability, UK VAT handling or GBP payments. For a small client with a few dozen bills a month, the platform is more than the job needs and the implementation effort will outweigh the saving.

Best for. Mid-market finance teams, and the outsourced accounting firms that serve them, processing hundreds or thousands of invoices a month on NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Dynamics or QuickBooks. In an evaluation, ask for the 89% figure to be measured on your own invoice sample, and get the payment and card terms in writing. For Xero practices, ApprovalMax or a capture tool such as Tofu is a better fit.

Verdict. Proven AP automation with genuine ERP depth and a sensible AI design, but opaque on price and aimed well above the typical UK small practice client.
