About Maxima
Maxima is an AI-native close automation platform for enterprise finance teams, built on the principle of agent-prepared, accountant-reviewed work. Its agents pull data from source systems, apply the company's own accounting policies and prepare journal entries, reconciliations, schedules and variance explanations, with nothing posted to the ledger until a person approves it. Use cases listed include cash coding, payroll journals, balance sheet reconciliations, card spend matching, prepaids and amortisation, leases, commission accruals, stock-based compensation, fixed asset depreciation and allocations. Max, its always-on accounting agent, is the newest product.
The integrations page names NetSuite, SAP, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Workday Payroll, and the company claims more than 150 bank and app integrations. Maxima says it has processed more than $400 billion in transaction volume and publishes case studies from Scale AI, Rippling, Zendesk, Miro and others. Its security page lists SOC 1 Type 2 and SOC 2 Type 2, with ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 marked as coming soon, AES-256 encryption, US-only hosting on Google Cloud, and contracts with its AI model providers that prohibit training on customer data.
Pricing is on request. It is aimed at enterprise and fast-growing finance teams with high transaction volumes and auditors to satisfy.

Our in-depth review
Maxima targets the large, repetitive preparation work behind an enterprise close: hundreds of reconciliations, recurring journals and schedules that each need evidence an auditor can re-perform. Its pitch is that agents prepare everything and accountants only review.
What it does well. The control design is thorough. Every output carries its inputs, lineage and approvals, nothing posts without a person signing it off, and segregation of duties is enforced in the product, which is what a Big Four auditor will look for. The use case list is specific and covers awkward areas such as stock-based compensation and commission accruals that many close tools skip. The security page is unusually detailed, with SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 reports available under NDA and zero data retention with its model providers. Named case studies from companies such as Scale AI and Rippling suggest real enterprise deployments.
Where it falls short. Pricing is not published, and the platform is clearly priced and staffed for enterprise buyers. Headline figures, such as $400 billion of transactions and over 98% automation at Scale AI, are the company's own. Data is hosted only in the US, which some UK and EU groups will need to clear with their data protection officers. ISO 27001 is still marked as coming soon, and the site contradicts itself on ISO 42001. QuickBooks and Xero are not supported, so it has no relevance to SME clients. Implementation also depends on writing your accounting policies down clearly enough for agents to apply them.
Best for. Enterprise and high-growth finance teams on NetSuite, SAP, Sage Intacct or Dynamics 365 with large reconciliation and journal volumes and demanding auditors. Teams wanting a broader close management and SOX tool might compare FloQast or BlackLine, while those wanting an agent layer specifically should shortlist Maxima.
Verdict. One of the more convincing agent-based close platforms, with strong audit trails and named customers, but enterprise-only and US-hosted. Start with a scoped pilot on reconciliations and recurring journals, ask your auditor to review its evidence pack, and check data residency before signing.
