About Finto

Finto is an AI finance platform built in Munich that automates the invoice-to-pay process for enterprise finance teams. Its agents manage the invoice inbox, capturing PDF, scanned, XML and ZUGFeRD e-invoices and handling routine supplier communication, then validate each invoice, code it to the right accounts, perform three-way matching and post the journal entry directly into the ERP.

The site names SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, DATEV and Business Central, along with industry ERPs, as target systems; Xero, QuickBooks and Sage are not mentioned. Finto also covers accruals, early payment discount capture and analytics. The company claims a 90 percent no-touch rate, five times more throughput per accountant, under two days from receipt to journal entry and 80 percent lower cost per invoice. It describes itself as GDPR compliant and says customer data is not used to train language models. The only named customer is the German football club Arminia Bielefeld, whose controlling director is quoted on the site. Pricing is not published.

It is positioned at enterprise finance teams in Germany and the wider DACH region with high invoice volumes and SAP, DATEV or Business Central at the centre of their stack.

Our in-depth review

German finance teams live with structured e-invoices, DATEV exports and SAP posting rules, and a lot of AP still involves people checking that each invoice meets the formal requirements before it can be booked. Finto is a Munich start-up that hands that inbox-to-journal process to AI agents.

What it does well. It is built for its home market. ZUGFeRD and XML e-invoice handling, DATEV and SAP posting and Business Central support match how German and Austrian enterprises actually work, and validation of invoice requirements before coding is the step generic capture tools often skip. Covering the whole chain, from inbox and supplier queries through coding, three-way matching and posting, means fewer hand-offs. A clear statement that customer data is not used to train models is welcome, and the focus on accruals and early payment discounts ties the product to measurable savings.

Where it falls short. It is of little use to UK or US practices: no Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or IRIS support is mentioned, and there is nothing on UK VAT or MTD. Even for its target market the public detail is thin. Pricing is not published, the FAQ entry on cost has no visible answer, and only one customer is named. The headline figures, a 90 percent no-touch rate and 80 percent lower cost per invoice, are the company's own and should be tested on your invoices. Security information is limited to GDPR compliance, so enterprise buyers will need to request certifications and a data processing agreement.

Best for. Mid-sized and large enterprises in Germany and the DACH region with high invoice volumes on SAP, DATEV, Dynamics or Business Central, and the finance teams struggling to recruit enough AP staff.

Verdict. A focused, credible approach for German-speaking enterprise AP, and not one for UK or US practices. DACH buyers should run a pilot on a month of real supplier invoices, measure the true no-touch rate and posting accuracy in their ERP, and get security documentation before signing. UK firms should look at Dext, AutoEntry or Briefcase.
