About Safebooks AI

Safebooks AI is an enterprise finance automation platform whose agents close books, reconcile systems, validate transactions and trace each number back to its source record. It is built on what the company calls the Financial Data Graph, which brings ERP, CRM, billing, bank, payroll and data warehouse sources into one governed model.

For GL reconciliation, the agents connect to source systems, match transactions, investigate variances to a root cause, route corrections for approval and produce audit-ready workpapers, running continuously so accounts are already reconciled by period-end. Other modules cover agentic financial close, cash application, automated journal entries, flux analysis, order to cash, procure to pay, payroll reconciliation and AWS Marketplace reconciliation. The company cites more than 50 integrations and more than 100 pre-built controls across order to cash, procure to pay, payroll, revenue recognition and close; integration logos on its homepage include NetSuite, Salesforce, Stripe, Workday, Zuora and Snowflake. It states SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 compliance and has a public trust centre.

Safebooks, Inc. was co-founded by chief executive Ahikam Kaufman, Guy Bar-Gil and Boaz Avidan, and lists investors including 10D, Propel VC and Mench VC. Pricing is not published. It is aimed at CFOs, controllers and business systems teams at larger companies.

The AI Ledger

Our in-depth review

Safebooks AI is built for the controller who has to defend every number at audit. Its agents reconcile the general ledger against billing, bank, payroll and sub-ledger data continuously, investigate variances and produce workpapers, with each figure traceable to the record it came from. The target is the enterprise close, not small business bookkeeping.

What it does well. The traceability focus is the right one for audited companies, and continuous reconciliation shifts work out of the last days of the month. The breadth of modules, from cash application and journal entries to flux analysis and payroll reconciliation, means one data model serves many controls rather than a tool per process. More than 100 pre-built controls give a head start on SOX-style work. SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 are stated, and there is a trust centre. Corrections are routed for approval rather than posted silently.

Where it falls short. Very little is concrete on the public site: no named customers, no case studies and no pricing, so buyers rely on the demo. Integration names appear only as logos, and the number of systems involved means implementation will be a project with IT, not a quick switch-on. There is nothing for Xero, QuickBooks or Sage users, and no UK-specific content, so UK firms should ask about data residency. The figures quoted, such as 40 billion US dollars of financial data behind its patterns, are the company's own. Buying a whole data graph is a bigger commitment than adding a reconciliation tool.

Best for. Finance teams at larger, often listed or audit-heavy companies running NetSuite or similar ERPs alongside Salesforce, Stripe or Zuora, with a business systems team to support implementation. UK practices will rarely buy it directly. Mid-market teams with a narrower accrual problem may find Mesh simpler, and those on Business Central or Exact Online could look at Eagl.

Verdict. A serious, audit-minded platform for enterprise reconciliation and close with the right security credentials, but opaque on customers and price. Ask for a reference customer of similar size and a pilot on a set of accounts with known reconciling items.
