About Diligent AuditAI

Diligent AuditAI is the set of agentic AI capabilities built into Diligent's internal audit management software, part of its wider governance, risk and compliance platform. An orchestrator takes plain-English prompts and routes them to specialist agents while keeping one audit trail. The audit agent rolls prior audits forward, drafts project structures, evidence requests and follow-ups, escalates overdue items, assigns remediation owners and runs control tests with exceptions flagged for review. A risk agent prioritises risks by likelihood, impact and velocity, continuous monitoring watches controls for gaps, and a board reporter turns findings into board-ready material.

Diligent launched AuditAI on 10 March 2026 at the Institute of Internal Auditors GAM conference, building on its ACL AI analytics and designed to work with Smart Prep 360 in Diligent Boards. Diligent says consequential actions require human approval and recommendations can be explained and overridden. Its own figures claim about 10,000 dollars saved per audit and a 70 percent cut in request management time, and customer logos on the page include Barclays, Heineken and Mastercard.

It is built for internal audit and SOX teams inside large companies, regulated industries and the public sector.

Our in-depth review

Diligent AuditAI is aimed at the administrative load of an internal audit function: rolling forward last year's programme, chasing evidence owners, tracking remediation and turning findings into something the audit committee will read. It is not a tool for accounting practices doing external assurance, but practices with large clients will meet it in those clients' audit teams.

What it does well. The agent design covers the real admin pain points, from evidence requests and escalation of overdue items to remediation owners and board reports. Having it inside an established platform that already holds audits, risks and findings means there is no separate data set to maintain. The governance stance is sensible, with human approval on consequential actions and recommendations that can be explained and overridden. The link into Diligent Boards is a genuine differentiator for teams whose output ends up in board packs, and analyst recognition from the major research firms shows a mature vendor.

Where it falls short. Pricing is not published, and Diligent sells by module and seat, so AuditAI comes on top of a significant platform commitment. The savings figures are Diligent's own, drawn from early adopters. The product page names no specific ERP or ledger integrations, and the security status of the audit product itself is not spelled out on the page, so buyers should ask for its certifications directly. Lock-in is real: once audits, risks and board reporting all sit in Diligent, moving away is a large project.

Best for. Internal audit and SOX teams in large or regulated organisations, especially those already using Diligent Boards or ACL analytics. A pilot should take one audit cycle and measure hours spent on evidence requests and follow-ups against the previous year, and check how easily reviewers can trace an AI-drafted finding to its evidence. Teams wanting AI controls testing without a full GRC platform can compare Andera, and those wanting full-population ledger risk analytics should look at MindBridge.

Verdict. A credible agentic layer on a mature enterprise audit platform, most valuable to existing Diligent customers. Not relevant to practices, and costly to adopt from scratch.
