About AuditFile
AuditFile is a cloud platform for audit, review and compilation engagements, covering methodology, risk assessment, trial balance work, workpapers and reporting in one file. Its AuditFile AI layer handles trial balance classification and draft financial statements, and its AI Audit Agents, launched in April 2025, take on routine engagement tasks under auditor supervision.
In September 2026 the company launched an Agentic AI Orchestrator Suite for Pro Plus and Enterprise customers. It coordinates longer-running agents that the company says can draft PBC request lists, prepare risk assessments, classify trial balances, generate statements and complete disclosure checklists, with agents and staff reviewed through the same sign-off queue and an evidence-linked audit trail. It also adds command-line and API access, Model Context Protocol access for approved outside AI tools, and an option to run agents on a firm's own AI model subscription. Native Apple apps followed in August 2026. AuditFile cites US Patent 10,891,294 for its AI. Published pricing is $179 per user per month on Professional and $249 on Pro Plus, both on a one-year agreement with a 14-day free trial.
It is aimed at small and mid-sized CPA firms doing audits, reviews and compilations under US standards.

Our in-depth review
AuditFile is one of the longer-standing cloud audit platforms, and its pitch to a firm is simple: replace a desktop engagement system with one cloud file, then let AI take on the mechanical steps. In 2026 it has pushed much further into agents than most rivals of its size.
What it does well. Trial balance classification, rollforward and draft statements are tasks where automation saves real hours without asking anyone to trust a black box. The September 2026 Orchestrator Suite treats agents like junior staff: work is assigned, tracked and signed off in the same queue, with every action logged against evidence, which is the right design for a regulated file. Bring-your-own-token lets a firm keep its own model contract and data terms. Pricing is published per user with a 14-day trial, which is unusually open for audit software.
Where it falls short. Methodology and templates are built around US standards, so a UK firm auditing under ISA (UK) would need to check coverage carefully and expect to adapt a great deal. The agents and Orchestrator Suite sit only on Pro Plus and Enterprise, so a ten-person team pays $249 per user per month, around $30,000 a year, and the advertised rates need a one-year agreement. Agent output quality depends on how clean the client's trial balance and documents are, and claims of autonomous work are the company's own until you see them on your files.
Best for. Small and mid-sized US CPA firms that want one cloud engagement file with practical, supervised AI. In a trial, roll forward a completed prior-year engagement and compare classification, PBC lists and draft statements against the signed version. UK practices will usually find Caseware, with UK templates, or Fieldguide a closer starting point, Circit for confirmations, and DataSnipper if they only want AI inside existing Excel workpapers.
Verdict. Established, transparent and now one of the more ambitious agent platforms in audit. A strong choice for US-standard work; UK firms should test methodology fit before anything else.
