About Asure Luna AI
Luna AI is the AI assistant built into AsureCentral, the payroll, HR, time, benefits and employee self-service platform from Asure Software, and into its Employee Center. It answers employee questions in a chat interface, flags payroll exceptions and runs calculations, surfaces HR compliance gaps and onboarding tasks, monitors tax filings to prevent deposit errors, guides benefits enrolment and tracks compliance deadlines. Asure says Luna takes action on routine work where appropriate, while users review and approve key outcomes in payroll, tax filings and HR decisions.
Luna is available whichever service model an employer chooses: running payroll and HR itself on AsureCentral, or using AsureWorks, where Asure specialists manage payroll and HR operations. The wider platform covers payroll processing, payroll tax management, time and attendance, recruiting, benefits, 401(k) plans and on-demand pay through AsurePay. Asure is a publicly traded US company and lists SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II certification, and says it has served more than 100,000 businesses.
Asure runs a partner programme for CPAs and accountants with revenue share, dedicated support and co-marketing. Pricing is quoted by employee count, setup and service needs. The product is built for US employers, with multi-state payroll and US payroll tax at its core.

Our in-depth review
Luna AI is not a standalone product an accountant buys; it is the AI layer inside Asure's payroll and HR platform. For a practice, the relevant question is whether Asure is a good payroll partner for US clients, and whether Luna makes the payroll cycle safer.
What it does well. The emphasis is on catching mistakes before they happen, which is the right priority for payroll. Luna flags exceptions in a pay run, monitors tax filings and deposits, and tracks compliance deadlines, while leaving approval of payroll, tax filings and HR decisions with people. Employee questions about pay, benefits and onboarding are handled in chat, which takes routine queries off the business owner. Because Luna works in both the self-service and fully managed models, a client can move between doing payroll themselves and outsourcing it without changing systems. SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type II reports, public-company audit and a formal CPA partner programme with revenue share are useful for firms recommending a provider.
Where it falls short. It is a US payroll platform. There is nothing for UK PAYE, RTI, auto-enrolment or HMRC, so it has no role for UK clients' payroll; UK practices should look at BrightPay instead. The Luna page describes capabilities in general terms, without a list of specific actions or measured results, so the scope of its automation is hard to judge before a demo. Pricing is quote-only. The AI is tied to Asure's own platform: there is no use for it with another payroll provider, and moving clients to Asure means a full payroll migration. Accounting integrations are not set out on the pages we checked.
Best for. US small and mid-sized employers, and the CPA firms that support them, who want a payroll and HR provider with built-in error checking and the option of a fully managed service. Firms with US clients wanting a simpler small-business option may compare Gusto, and international employers should look at Deel.
Verdict. A sensible, control-minded AI layer on an established US payroll platform, but only relevant if Asure is already the right payroll choice. Ask for a demo of Luna on a pay run with real exceptions, review the SOC reports, and compare the partner terms with your current payroll arrangement.
